Stretch marks are actually small tears that form in the tissue that supports the skin and helps it stretch. Stretch marks represent the tearing or separation of collagen from the skin when tearing occurs. Stretch marks are not harmful or painful and usually fade over time.

You can also use a body brush to massage the areas where you have or want to prevent stretch marks from appearing, such us the thighs, buttocks, breasts and arms. This massage will increase circulation to the area, adding points to your efforts.

Make sure you take a good amount of water everyday to keep yourself from being dehydrated. If you are dehydrated, then your skin suffers as well.

The proper hydration of your skin during pregnancy is a key element of any skin care program. This is where the application of a high quality stretch mark cream or body lotion can not only relieve some of these symptoms, but also enhance the skins ability to expand and flex.

A treatment you can do at home is skin brushing. To prevent stretch marks, vigorously massage with a skin brush or loofah during your shower. If you already have stretch marks, then apply vitamin E or any 100% pure oil to skin first. Then brush using gentle to medium strength circular strokes to affected areas. You will be assisting the stretch marks heal faster while decreasing cellulite.

Many woman use creams and lotions as a treatment for stretch mark removal. These creams keep the skin hydrated and help in fading red lines to white. Creams containing Vitamin A and Vitamin E are often recommended. Tretinoin, or Retin-A provides a good source of vitamin A. In fact, if you are using these creams, you might be advised to stop taking other supplements. You may also like to note that Tretinoin is not also recommended while pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Control your weight. When you eat right during pregnancy, you will also be rewarded with the added benefit of having control over your weight. The best way to go about this is to talk to your doctor to know how much weight you should gain during pregnancy. With this knowledge you will be able to avoid gaining too much because rapid and excessive weight gain will compound the problem of stretch marks.

Half a cup of olive oil, a quarter cup of aloe vera gel, four capsules of liquid vitamin E and two capsules of liquid vitamin A can be used in making a home remedy for stretch marks. Once these ingredients are acquired, the can be mixed in a blender and placed in an airtight jar, using the mixture whenever required. This concoction contains ingredients that are known to be beneficial to the skin and aid in skin repair.

To apply one of these home remedies, massage them into the skin. Take about three minutes to massage each area. After massaging, you can help it penetrate deeper into the skin by using a loofa or washcloth on the area for an extra three minutes. After this, you can rinse the mixture off.
